Each year on October 10th, we raise awareness for mental health worldwide. This year’s theme is mental health at work, an often overlooked but severely necessary topic. As someone with a history of mental health struggles, days like these hit close to home for me, and I’d like to take some time to raise awareness for it by doing what I love – painting my nails.

Week 3 of Halloween looks is here, and today I have a green, metallic one for you all! Green is a colour that I have a love/hate relationship with: I love how it looks on my skin, but it simply doesn’t spark joy for me very often. For today’s look, however, it’s the showstopper of the look.
If you know anything about me, you know I’m a big fan of Halloween (or Samhain). Even though we don’t celebrate it over here in Western-Europe, it’s still always the peak of the year to me, and trumps holidays like Christmas. For the next 13 weeks (get it?!) starting today, I’ll be showing you a few Halloween nail arts that I did to celebrate the nearing of this holiday. Today, I start with a bit of a cheat: I’m showing you one of my recently made nail polishes.
It’s the last day of the month, and that means I’m rounding up all manicures I’ve worn this month!
You know you’re a true lacquerista if your birthday wishlist is filled with nail polish. It does not come as a surprise that it describes me to the t. Although my birthday was almost two months ago already, I do want to show you this polish that I received, which is a colour that I believe is rather underappreciated within the nail polish community. I intend to change that with this review, so buckle up!
If time travel would exist, going back ten years in time would show me as a young twenty-something mixing up pigments and glitter for my own nail polish brand. Yes, I used to be an indie seller! Not very successful, to be honest, mainly because it was just a hobby, but a fun one regardless! My brand used to be called Bows & Polkadots, and I’ve already shown you some mixes on this website. Today I’m showing you were it all started, with The Neon Collection.
5x Essence Nail Polish – 58 Less Bitter More Glitter, 62 Heart Of Gold, 65 OH-bergine, 66 Give Me Space & Holo Bomb 02 Holy Moly
After Tuesday’s post, I obviously had to follow suit with the Essence nail polishes I bought! During the sales, I bought five very different nail polishes, all vastly different. I started appreciating Essence more as of lately, as the finishes are starting to become much more fun as compared to what they used to be. Polishes were mostly creams, sometimes an iridescent shimmer mixed into it, but nowadays there seems to be much more of a choice available. Also: where Catrice made their nail polish collection smaller, Essence’s seems to have been made bigger. They even sell nail polish thinner? Anyway, here’s the five nail polishes I took home with me, enjoy!
As you may know, I love buying secondhand nail polish. It offers me the chance to buy older nail polishes that are discontinued, buy more for less money, and find polishes I’ve wanted for years without any luck (looking at you, indie polishes!). Recently, I bought someone’s collection of regular nail polish on 2dehands, a national online marketplace. In it, I found a bottle of Essie Muchi Muchi, a cool-toned pink colour. Immediately, I raised my eyebrows. Didn’t I already have this polish? And didn’t it… look different? I picked my own bottle from its cabinet, and quickly saw it’s indeed a different colour. Same name, number, and polish name, but… different?
3x Catrice Nail Polish – 149 Vanilla Chai, 164 Elsa’s Favourite & 167 Love It Or Leaf It + Essie dupe alert!
I have a confession to make. Ever since I started using Vinted to buy polishes, I don’t usually visit my local stores to check them anymore. Perhaps it’s also due to the fact drugstore polishes are much less interesting when you start collecting indies, but regardless: it’s just not my place to be anymore. Exceptions are made, however, when there’s a sale going on. Because one can never stock up on basic creams, right? Today I’m reviewing three polishes I bought at Kruidvat, and one even looks like a dupe!
Another month, and another installation of “My Partner Picks”! Last time was also the first time I posted this on my blog, so I was curious what my partner would pick next. Apparently, we’re staying in the realms of pink, glittery polishes, but this one is rather different.
