Halloween #2 – Witchy Glazed Butter Nails

by Deborah

For the second look of my Halloween countdown, I opted to go for a simple, contemporary nail art. Nothing spooky this time, but it is witchy! Today I’m showing you my take on the glazed butter nail trend.

To start off: this look is made by hand, without stencils or anything, which is clearly visible. On my thumb nail I created a small pentagram, symbolising the four elements plus the soul.

As a practicing witch myself, I work with all elements. My inspiration for this look came from my interest in adding nail polish to my practice in a way that could possibly amplify my practice, mostly in a psychological way.

On the other fingers, I painted the symbols for the four elements. For some added fun, I topped them with three dots in different sizes; without these, the nails looked boring to me. It’s simple, but effective, and I felt rather good when wearing them!

To make this look, I first used a basecoat (Essie Here to Stay) before applying three layers of OPI Be There in a Prosecco. With OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark I created the symbols and dots. For the glazed effect, I combined one layer of Catrice’s Prismatic Effect with Essence’s See You in my Dreams. I topped the entire look with a coat of Seche Vite.

Here you can see the shine to the nails. I love how shiny they look! I was unsure about the combination before adding the two effect topcoats, but I’m glad I continued regardless.
