Halloween #8 – Blood Spatter Nails

by Deborah

And now for something completely different. This year’s Halloween nail arts have been rather modern, kind of ✨aesthetic✨, and not very gore-y or creepy. It just simply suits my style better! However, I do make a big exception for these nails, which is one that I have actually done before. Because when you think of Halloween, you think of blood. And what better way to show that than to put some blood splatter on your nails?

For this look, I used a simple white polish (Essence 33 Wild White Ways), as well as a crimson red one (Helena Rubinstein 14 Temptress), which I slightly darkened with Essence’s Stampy Polish 01 Perfect Match. To be able to spatter the “blood” on the two coats of white base colour, I thinned it with some acetone in a small cup until fluid enough, mixing with a small cocktail skewer. First, I made fingerprints by dipping my index finger in the mixture, dabbing excess, and then placing the finger on the dried polish. It’s messy, but that’s the fun of it!

After that, I used the skewer to fling the polish at my nails. This is messy, especially as red polish is notorious for staining quickly. For maximum protection, I put tape around my fingers and nails, and proceeded the process over a silicone mat. This worked really well! Shown here are my nails without any topcoat to seal it, but I would definitely suggest doing so as it will flatten the relief of the drops. I really like these nails, and hope you do too!
