A few months ago, I’ve heard the news that my favourite stamping plate brand, MoYou London, is currently phasing out their plates. When I was around the nail scene some ten+ years ago, I first came in contact with this brand, quickly becoming my favourite brand to shop image plates at, even when having to order them overseas. Today I’d like to share a manicure with one of my favourite plates, as an hommage to their brand and amazing quality.
This is the image plate I used, an Italian themed one from their Tourist Collection. Back in the days, there were two huge brands of stamping plates; Konad, and MoYou. Konad had mostly round plates, with smaller full-image designs. They did barely cover my short nails back then. However, MoYou offered bigger designs at the same price, as well as two plates with different design sizes to choose from. For example, the one I’m showing is the one with bigger images, and this one is the smaller counterpart of the plate, which includes a lot smaller designs as well.
For this look I went with the swirly pattern. The blue basecolour is Blueberry Muffin by Barry M, and the coppery one is Penny by Primark’s brand PS… Even though the latter is a cheap brand, it’s absolutely worth checking it out when you’re in the store, as they’re surprisingly fun and exciting! In this case, I appreciated the contrast between the blue and copper.
The design was made with the same Barry M as well. Please keep in mind that even though most regular polishes do work with image plates, the thin layer it gets put in makes it often hard to use the stamper before the polish dries completely. As a result, it is possible for the design not to lift from the plate completely. Barry M seems to have less of that issue, although you can still see some imperfections. However, it’s way less than with plates from other brands; MoYou’s plates seem to have a bit more depth to their designs. My nails were topped with Seche Vite.
If you’re able to get your hands on some image plates by MoYou, I definitely suggest you do so, as these image plates are the best ones I’ve ever tried. I can’t say anything about their stamping polishes, as I’ve never tried those, but I’ve read raving reviews about them as well.
