The thirteen weeks of Halloween are almost over, but not before I’m doing a manicure with visuals from one of my favourite movies ever: Nightmare Before Christmas! Of course, I had to incorporate this into this challenge, even though I don’t think it is a Halloween movie at all. Anyway, any reason to show off some spooky nails is reason enough, right?

And now for something completely different. This year’s Halloween nail arts have been rather modern, kind of ✨aesthetic✨, and not very gore-y or creepy. It just simply suits my style better! However, I do make a big exception for these nails, which is one that I have actually done before. Because when you think of Halloween, you think of blood. And what better way to show that than to put some blood splatter on your nails?
Six weeks to Halloween yet, and seven weeks since I’ve started counting down to it! Today I’m playing around with some recently bought reflective glitter, to make a Halloween-y, yet still kind of elegant look by adding spiderwebs to a pale pink base.
Who says Halloween is only for the glum, dark manicures? It definitely isn’t in my opinion, and in the fifth week of my countdown, I’ll show you my take on how to combine the bewitching spirit of Halloween with some soft pastel hues, to create a spooky yet elegant look.
A few months ago, I’ve heard the news that my favourite stamping plate brand, MoYou London, is currently phasing out their plates. When I was around the nail scene some ten+ years ago, I first came in contact with this brand, quickly becoming my favourite brand to shop image plates at, even when having to order them overseas. Today I’d like to share a manicure with one of my favourite plates, as an hommage to their brand and amazing quality.
One of the biggest perks of the period coming up to Halloween, is rewatching my favourite spooky movies! The movie I always watch around this time, is Practical Magic. It’s just so cozy! Today I’m bringing am hommage to it by creating a nail art with it… including some magic of its own!
Week 3 of Halloween looks is here, and today I have a green, metallic one for you all! Green is a colour that I have a love/hate relationship with: I love how it looks on my skin, but it simply doesn’t spark joy for me very often. For today’s look, however, it’s the showstopper of the look.
I’m not going to lie: I’m a nostalgic kind of person. I somehow remember specific eye looks or nail arts I’ve worn over the years, and my series Lacquered Memories are another witness of my nostalgic personality. For exactly that reason, I’d like to kick off a new series: Trends from the Past. In this series, I’m reviewing nail art trends that were hawt many years ago (and some did even come back!), and that I still do like a lot. It can be specific charms, a finish, a type of nail art, or even certain polishes that were so much sought after that the amount of pigment a brand had, were not meeting the demand anymore. Yes, that happened sometimes! Today I’m starting with a trend you either love or hate: kaviar nails.
I’m that person that is always looking around for things that spark my eye and could possibly translate well to nail art. One of the recent findings were these gorgeous boots by Dr. Martens, with a marble pattern. Of course I had to recreate it on my nails! Today I’m showing you this Dr. Martens nail art.
Something you might not know about me, is that I’m an art historian. I’ve followed both a bachelor’s as well as a master’s degree in it at the University of Groningen, where I followed a curator-specific course. Unfortunately, due to multiple reasons, I do not work in that field at the moment, but art remains deeply rooted in myself. As a student in Groningen, I often walked or biked past the Groninger Museum, a building that in itself is already a work of art. Loving the bright colours of its exterior designed by Italian artist and architect Alessandro Mendini, I always wanted to make something similar on my nails. When I remembered the chair by the same artist, I immediately thought it would be perfect!
