Sometimes old trend die a quick death, never to be seen again. But sometimes, they resurface after a couple of years, hitting a totally new target market. That’s most definitely the case with crackle topcoats! Back in the days, this one got many lacqueristas in a ongoing discussion: is the trend one to love, or to absolutely hate? And in all honesty; even after all these years, I’m still not really certain!
OPI
For the second look of my Halloween countdown, I opted to go for a simple, contemporary nail art. Nothing spooky this time, but it is witchy! Today I’m showing you my take on the glazed butter nail trend.
It’s the last day of the month, and that means I’m rounding up all manicures I’ve worn this month!
Something I always enjoyed on other blogs, is when someone totally not into nail polish picks out polishes for the owner of the website. Not to buy, oh no; from their own collection. It’s usually a husband or boyfriend, and I happen to have the latter around! When we got together, I don’t think he knew the sheer extent of my hobby, and he was soon met with two Helmers stuffed with nail polish and related stuff. But it did have its perks: the occasional MAN-icure, as well as never being out of hand creams.
About ten years ago, real gold topcoats were the absolute rage. After OPI came out with “The Man with the Golden Gun” in 2012, a LOT of brands followed this trend, and nail bloggers worldwide hyped these polishes up as much as I’ve ever seen that happening. The years after, OPI consistently brought new colours to add to the craze. Today I’m showing you the top coat from their Holiday 2013 collection: “Pure 18K White Gold & Silver”, from their Mariah Carey collection.
And now for something completely different! Today I’m showing you two polishes that I’ve had for quite some time; I think they both were bought in or around 2014; Kiko’s “Viola Pervinca” topped with OPI’s “So Elegant”. A surprisingly good combination!
