Happy Summer Solstice! Today marks the longest day of the year, as well as the celebration of Litha, the pagan festival surrounding the solstice. For the ocassion, I decided to pick my five favourite summer polishes. Let’s look at them, in no particular order!
The first one is two coats of Essie 561 Skål. This is a gorgeous grassy green colour in a very creamy formula. I’ve used this often, mainly with a few accent fingers in white with some leafy patterns on them. It’s the perfect muted green for summer, and brightens up my day whenever I look at my nails!
Speaking of brightening up; Dior’s 667 Bahia does that on its own! Holy smokes, what a stunning neon this is. It’s bright, kind of obnoxious, but so much FUN! It’s opaque in two layers.
From a bright polish to a bit… less of a statement colour. Shown here are three coats of Hema 52 Holographic Copper, an oldie but goldie. This is a rather neutral holographic polish, that gets a big oompf when seen in bright, direct sunlight. Indoors like here it’s much more of a neutral colour. Of course, just like all holo’s, I’ve added a topcoat to make it shine.
Barry M’s 12 Green Berry is by far one of my favourite colours ever, and also one of the hardest ones to capture on photo. In real life it’s somewhat more green, almost a bright turquoise. It reminds me of summer, ice creams near the pool, and inflatable pool floats. Shown are two coats without topcoat.
And last but most definitely not least: Essie’s 102 Play Date. This one has been in my collection for such a long time, and only two years ago I started wearing it as a base manicure on my nails. But my gods, what a beauty! Essie names it a soft but bright purple, and I agree with that! It’s almost a muted neon, with cool undertones, making it perfect for manicure all year round. But for summer, this one reminds me of flowers popping up, mostly campanula. Shown are two coats.
