Every once in a while, Catrice comes out with a great Disney collaboration. In 2023, this was a Winnie the Pooh one, mainly based on honey. Although the collection was big on lip care, they also included three nail products: a nail oil, and two nail polishes. Today, I’m (finally!) reviewing the two nail polishes, 010 Kindness is Golden, and 020 Let Your Silliness Shine.
Although they were released last year, I chose to still show them on here as the polishes are still for sale. I have seen them in local Kruidvat stores, as well as online.
010 Kindness is Golden
010 “Kindness is Golden” is a glazed nail polish, which means it’s sheer and very shiny. I used three coats, as I prefer my glazed nails to be a bit more opaque, plus it limits the streakiness. Or at least I thought so…
Because although it’s a stunning colour, which reminds me of honey candy, it is SO streaky! Why, Catrice, why?! I love the shine when the light hits it just right, making it almost a duochrome, but the lines. OMG! I have to admit that this is without topcoat, so perhaps it levels out a bit, but my hopes aren’t high for that to happen, unfortunately.
Regardless, I think it is wearable. Please keep in mind photos emphasise any flaws, so it’s somewhat less in real life. However, I think this colour is one of those that would NEED to be opaque in order to rock it. I mean, this kind of nude-y yellow makes the nails kind of look like… discoloured. Which in itself isn’t an issue (nail polish simply stains nails, and it doesn’t affect anything), but is it truly the look you want to go for?
020 Let Your Silliness Shine
020 “Let Your Silliness Shine” (with Tigger as the best spokesperson for the name!) is a warm golden colour, also semi-transparent. Due to the sheerness, I also used three coats in this case, without a top coat.
…and it has the same issue as the previous nail polish. So. Much. Streaks. It’s a shame, because I do like this colour, although it doesn’t look that great on my skintone. It’s a warm gold, almost brass-y, which I do not have in my collection yet. You can slightly see the sheerness in the pinkie, where my nail white slightly shows through.
Here’s the streakiness in all its glory. It’s funny how it mostly shows up on my middle and ring finger, but less on my pinkie and index finger.
Oh, how much I would’ve wanted to love this collection. The oil is great, and I use it often, but these nail polishes… not so much! I strongly dislike streaky nail polishes, and this collection is just that. I think they’re still cute (I love the bottles), but I know I won’t reach for these two very often. Such a shame!
