5x Essence Nail Polish – 58 Less Bitter More Glitter, 62 Heart Of Gold, 65 OH-bergine, 66 Give Me Space & Holo Bomb 02 Holy Moly

by Deborah

After Tuesday’s post, I obviously had to follow suit with the Essence nail polishes I bought! During the sales, I bought five very different nail polishes, all vastly different. I started appreciating Essence more as of lately, as the finishes are starting to become much more fun as compared to what they used to be. Polishes were mostly creams, sometimes an iridescent shimmer mixed into it, but nowadays there seems to be much more of a choice available. Also: where Catrice made their nail polish collection smaller, Essence’s seems to have been made bigger. They even sell nail polish thinner? Anyway, here’s the five nail polishes I took home with me, enjoy!

The first polish is number 58, Less Bitter More Glitter (or LESS BITTER MORE glitter, as Essence writes it on the bottle). This polish, as also stated on the cap, is semi-transparent, so don’t expect opacity! It’s a very sheer lilac base colour, with purple, pink, champagne, and silver glitters in it. It pops in bright light, yet is surprisingly neutral in the shade.

Shown are two coats on a basecoat, no topcoat applied. It’s semi-sheer, but I think it can be made opaque in two more thin layers of the polish. Removal is rather easy as well, although the shimmers go EVERYWHERE.

The second polish I got is 62 Heart Of Gold. This one was hard to capture on photos, so apologies for the editing. The pictures below show the polish the best on my screen, but I’ve tried editing the photos so the colour on screen matches the real life colour. The name of this polish reminds me of Ukraine’s ESC song, so thanks to Essence for this song being stuck in my head, haha!

Shown are two coats over a base coat, no topcoat. The polish is a warmer gold, but so extremely streaky! It looks very similar to Catrice’s “Let Your Silliness Shine“, but more opaque. I actually bought this one not to wear on its own, but to use as a stamping polish. I haven’t tried it for that purpose yet, but I’ll keep you updated when I do!

Then this gorgeous number, 65 Oh-Bergine. Another one that is hard to photograph. It’s a true burple (gosh, I dislike that name!), or a very blue-toned purple. It’s soooo creamy, though! It’s not a unique colour, but one that I definitely appreciate a lot. It’s nearing navy, but looks more purple in real life. It’s really gorgeous!

Shown, again, are two coats over basecoat, no topcoat. Look at that shine! I’m not sure about the name, though, as that implies a more warm-toned purple, but I think the name is fun regardless.

And to the last of the normal line: 66 Give Me Space. And holy moly (oh, the foreshadowing, hehe!), this one is a BEAUT! I’m a sucker for shifty polishes, and this one fits that box perfectly. The base colour is a very sheer light purple, with a blue/purple/pink shimmer mixed into it. Just like Less Bitter More Glitter, this one is marketed as a semi-transparent, which colours like these mostly are.

You know the drill: basecoat, two coats of polish, and no topcoat. Yeah, I love this one. I’m sure I have at least two similar colours in my collection, but this one still is a unique one, in my opinion. The shift is stunning, and much more prevalent than other polishes like these. I’d definitely recommend picking this up!

Last but not least: a Holo Bomb polish! And yes, Essence FINALLY understood the meaning of holo: this one is truly holographic. And how! 01 Holy Moly is a cool magenta with linear holo. And it’s a strong one! I was surprised by this, as budget holo’s often are less impactful, but this one beats my expectations.

Shown are two coats over a basecoat, with a topcoat on top. Holo tends to dry rather matte, hence the choice to make it shinier by adding the topcoat. I love this one so much! It’s a shame the bottle looks the way it does, as it makes the polish “feel” a bit more cheap, if you understand what I mean. But it’s the inside that counts, and in this case that’s beautiful!
