If time travel would exist, going back ten years in time would show me as a young twenty-something mixing up pigments and glitter for my own nail polish brand. Yes, I used to be an indie seller! Not very successful, to be honest, mainly because it was just a hobby, but a fun one regardless! My brand used to be called Bows & Polkadots, and I’ve already shown you some mixes on this website. Today I’m showing you were it all started, with The Neon Collection.
This collection was one consisting of four colours: three highly pigmented neon polishes, as well as one topper. The latter has bled tremendously, and I’m not showing that today, but the former three are stil active. I made the labels myself, and handwrote the labels. Names were not necessarily based on a specific topic, but based on things that popped into my mind. The topcoat, with all kinds of matte neon glitter in a transparent base, was called “Matte Mania”. The colours were called The Frogster, Campylopurple, and Flamingo Fun. Cheesy, and not very inspired, haha!
Fun fact: I sold my polish mostly in Europe through Etsy, and once sent a polish to the USA!
Here you can see the colours. On my thumb and ring finger is Flamingo Fun, Campylopurple is on my middle finger, and the neon green colour on my index finger and pinkie is The Frogster. They’re a neon, orange coral, a neon, cool pink, and a neon green respectively.
Campylopurple used to be a neon purple, as still visible in the remnants of the polish colour on the neck of the bottle. Unfortunately, the pigment did fade over time.
Even though the brand wasn’t a success at all (nor did I truly pursue that, if I’m completely honest), these bottles are still a fun reminder of a hobby I once participated in.
